Hynds Sand Filter Systems
have been developed to capture settleable solids, floatables, oils and grease
from stormwater runoff. They are designed to comply with ARC TP10 which makes
them easy to specify and easy to approve.
The two-stage treatment system creates a filter that achieves the highest
treatment level available. More versatile than conventional stormwater
treatment systems, Hynds Sand Filter Systems are an effective on-site
alternative to detention ponds and swales.

The Hynds Sand Filter's small footprint makes it an
ideal choice wherever stormwater treatment is required. Installation locations
include:
-
Streets and roadways
-
Parking areas
-
New developments
-
Shopping centres
-
Truck stops
-
Vehicle maintenance yards
-
Industrial and commercial facilities

Hynds Sand Filter systems are sized on the volume of
stormwater to be treated. This is dependant on the size of the contributing
runoff area and the location of the site. Hynds Environmental will design a
Sand Filter for each specific site based on the site constraints and
performance requirements.
A six monthly maintenance schedule is recommended for Hynds Sand Filters.
Hynds Environmental offers maintenance contracts to complete this procedure and
ensure compliance with resource consent requirements.

Two system types are available, designed to treat a predetermined catchment
area:
-
Hynds In-Line System
Units integrated into the drainage network on-site. The system is designed to collect and store all stormwater runoff from a specified catchment area, filtering the stormwater through multiple chambers before dispersing through an outlet pipe.
-
Hynds Source Control System
Units placed in roadways and carparks adjacent to kerbs or in open spaces. Stormwater enters the system at road level and is stored and filtered through multiple chambers before discharging into a downstream drainage network.
The high removal efficiencies and small footprint of the Hynds Sand Filter make
it a compact and economical solution for non-point source pollution.
