Hynds 'Enviro-Valve'
Under the Resource Management Act 1991, trade waste and runoff from potentially contaminated areas must be discharged to the sewer network. Stormwater runoff however is prohibited from being discharged to the sewer and must be separated from the contaminated runoff.

The Hynds "Enviro-Valve" is a cheap alternative to roofing a wash-down area and is ideal for all first flush diversion requirements.
The Hynds "Enviro-Valve" is suitable for most sites where the separation and discharge of both stormwater and trade waste is required. The runoff areas must be designated wash-down areas however and must be isolated accordingly. Typical sites include:
  • Car wash areas
  • Industrial wash down facilities
  • Supermarket refuse areas.

The following "Enviro-Valve" models are available
  • Standard "Enviro-Valve" : suitable for areas with low traffic loading.
  • Heavy Duty "Enviro-Valve" : suitable for heavy traffic loading.
The Hynds "Enviro-Valve" is a complete water diversion system ready to install directly into the wash pad area, either on its own or in series with new or existing treatment systems.

A six monthly maintenance schedule is recommended for the Hynds "Enviro-Valve". Hynds Environmental offers maintenance contracts to complete this procedure and ensure compliance with resource consent requirements.

The Hynds "Enviro-Valve" is a unique automated valve that will identify a heavy downpour and automatically switch from sewer to stormwater discharge (or a stormwater treatment system and stormwater mains). Once the rain eases to a lower rate, the valve switches back to sewer discharge. This fully automated system eliminates the possibility of the valve being left in the wrong position and thus ensures no contamination of the stormwater network occurs.
