 The Smart Sponge® Line Skimmer is an industrial-strength absorbent boom, which should be used for harbour operations involving fueling, bilge pumping, or any activity with the likelihood of creating sheen on a water surface. Line Skimmers have a higher absorption rate and potential for absorption compared to traditional booms, because the Smart Sponge® is directly exposed to the sheen and does not have a fabric barrier between the sheen and absorbent media. They are also quasi-rigid, allowing them to flex when needed yet are easier to handle and manage on a water surface, creating a more solid barrier to contain sheen than traditional absorbent booms, especially when Triple Line Skimmers are used. |
